The Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education announces a vacancy in the following position:

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in Social Work with a Tennessee teaching License in School Social Work; requires a minimum of five (5) years work experience working with children in a related field. The person in this position works directly with students and their families, and cooperatively with principals, teachers, administrators and community agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Division of Social Work, Home School, and Homeless Programs, Department of Student Services, the School Social Worker’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to assessing and evaluating all counseling referrals; planning and developing an appropriate intervention with recommendations; implementing direct service and counseling to referred students and their families; assisting parents in developing effective parenting skills; coordinate joint conferences with parent/school personnel to integrate new and returning students with social problems and to mediate conflict between home/school; participate in Special Education and S-team meeting when appropriate.

SALARY: Ten months (10) – Teacher Salary - Career Ladder eligible.
